Meet Kenyatta

Kenyatta Eubanks is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Idaho. She sees teens one to one, parents on their own and families together.

She talks with teens the way she would want a teen to talk to her: directly, without a script and without hurrying. Her license is listed at the foot of every page.

  • Teens 13 to 18, and their parents or guardians

  • In the office in Meridian, or by video from a private place in Idaho

  • Sessions of 50 minutes

Sessions

Three kinds of sessions

Each is 50 minutes, in the office or by video. Each page says what to expect.

  • Teen therapy

One to one, at a pace you set with Kenyatta. You decide what to bring.

    About teen therapy
  • Family sessions

A parent, a teen and sometimes a sibling, working on how you talk at home.

    About family sessions
  • Parent sessions

For a parent on their own: what to say, what to leave alone and how to stay steady.

How it works

A parent starts it, and then the room is yours

Counseling for a teen begins with a parent or guardian. After that, sessions are between you and Kenyatta, with a few limits she explains in the first one.

  • A parent writes or calls

Kenyatta answers within a business day, and we set up a first session.

  • A parent signs consent

A parent or legal guardian signs before a first session with anyone under 18.

    Consent, for parents
  • You and Kenyatta meet

Fifty minutes, one to one. You decide what to talk about.

  • What stays private is spelled out

What you say stays between you and Kenyatta, with a few limits she tells you about.

How fees work

The answers to what parents ask before booking a first session.

  • Insurance we work with

Kindle bills some commercial plans, such as PPO plans, for the visits your plan covers. It does not bill Medicaid or Medicare; if your teen is on Medicaid, we will help you find a counselor who does.

    • Some commercial plans, such as PPO plans

    • No Medicaid or Medicare

  • If you pay yourself

A session is 50 minutes. Your fee is given in writing before you start, and it depends on the kind of session: a teen's, a parent's or a family's. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one. We take HSA and FSA cards. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and kind of session, to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of the cost. It carries a diagnosis code, and plan notices usually go to the person who holds the policy. If that matters for your teen, ask us before you use it. Your plan decides whether it pays anything.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Before the first session we check your plan's benefits for outpatient counseling and tell you what we found, in writing. You can also call the number on your card and ask what it covers.

Questions

What teens and parents ask first

Does a parent have to sign me up?

Yes. A parent or legal guardian signs consent before a first session with anyone under 18. After that, what you say in sessions stays between you and Kenyatta, with a few limits she explains.

Will my parents hear what I say in sessions?

No. They hear that you came, how often, and how things are going in broad terms. Kenyatta tells a parent right away only if she believes someone is in serious danger. The page for teens has the plain version.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

Your fee is given in writing before you start. It depends on the kind of session. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one. How fees work answers the rest.

Do you take my insurance?

Kindle bills some commercial plans, such as PPO plans, and does not bill Medicaid or Medicare. Before the first session we check your benefits and tell you in writing what we found.

What happens in the first session?

It is 50 minutes. A parent and the teen start together, so everyone hears the same ground rules, and then the parent steps out. Kenyatta explains how she works, what stays private and the possible risks and benefits of counseling. Then she listens.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988 any time, or call 911 in an emergency. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock, so do not wait for us to answer.
