Questions

What teens and parents ask us

Do you take my insurance?

Kindle bills some commercial plans, such as PPO plans, for the visits a plan covers. It does not bill Medicaid or Medicare. Before your first session we check your benefits and tell you in writing what we found.

Can I send a superbill to my plan?

You can ask for a superbill, a monthly itemized receipt with the dates and kind of session, and send it to your plan, which may reimburse part of the cost. Your plan decides whether it does. It lists a diagnosis code, and plan notices usually go to the person who holds the policy.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

Your fee is given in writing before you start. It depends on the kind of session: a teen's, a parent's or a family's. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes, we take HSA and FSA cards at the end of a session. Your plan decides which services it covers.

What happens in the first session?

It is 50 minutes. A parent and the teen start together, so everyone hears the same ground rules, and then the parent steps out. Kenyatta explains how she works, what stays private and the possible risks and benefits of counseling. Then she listens.

How often and how long?

A session is 50 minutes. Kenyatta sets the pace with you and a parent, and it can change as things change. There is no set number of sessions.

Are you licensed where I live?

Kenyatta is licensed in Idaho, and her license is listed in the footer of every page. For video, the teen needs to be in Idaho during the session. Outside Idaho, we will give you names of colleagues.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988 any time, or call 911 in an emergency. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock, so do not wait for us to answer.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What a teen says in a session stays between the teen and Kenyatta. She shares it only if she believes someone is in serious danger, if the law requires her to report that a child is being hurt, or if a court orders it. A parent hears when sessions are kept or missed, and how it is going in broad terms.

Can you see my teen, and how does consent work?

Kenyatta sees teens 13 to 18. A parent or legal guardian signs consent before the first session. If custody is shared, we ask for the court order and follow it.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice to change or cancel an appointment. If you cannot give it, call or text, and we will talk about it.

Still have a question?

Write to us. A parent or guardian can write or call, and we reply within one business day.
