Your first session

What happens before, during and after

The first session is 50 minutes. Nobody needs to prepare anything.

  1. Step 1: Before

A parent or guardian signs consent and fills in the forms on the practice's own portal, which is separate from this site. If you pay without insurance, you also receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing.

  2. Step 2: During

A parent and the teen start together, so everyone hears the same ground rules, and then the parent steps out. Kenyatta explains how she works, what stays private and its limits, and the possible risks and benefits of counseling. Then she listens, and the teen decides how much to say.

  3. Step 3: After

You decide together whether to continue and at what pace. A parent pays, or the plan is billed. If you would rather find someone else, we give you names.

The room

What it looks like when you walk in

A small office with plants, a wicker chair and a lot of light. There is a seat for each of you, and nothing to fill in while you wait.

  • Same-week appointments

  • Plain-language explanations

Two people talking in a living-room style office, one gesturing with open hands and the other seated in a wicker chair, shown without faces
